Go to 800 Meters
Back to Boys' Track
For 61 years, Portville's greatest track athlete of all time was JAZZ PETERSON, a student
of the Depression era. During that entire period, his 400 meter dash record stood the test of many wannabes...Until
1993.
In that year, BRIAN MILLER finally broke the Peterson standard, while also establishing
himself as the greatest trackster in Portville's long history. As of 2003, Miller holds four school records (400, Pentathlon,
110 HH, 1600 Relay) and is in the top 10 in seven other events. Noone else comes close to his overall accomplishments.
ADAM HELLWIG ranks as one of the greatest Portville sprinters of all time and is in the top
5 in 4 events. That ability translated into 1,954 yards rushing in his senior gridiron season...far more than any other
Panther running back in history.
